Schalkwijk Health Centre (GCS) has been active in Schalkwijk for more than forty-five years. And during all these years, the centre has developed into a face of integrated primary care in this part of Haarlem. More than ten different disciplines work together in the centre. In this summary of the vision document, you can read the main elements. You can request the entire vision document from the GCS office manager.
More than ever before, Schalkwijk Health Centre is facing times characterised by change. This calls for a reconsideration of its role, its importance and its right to exist in Schalkwijk. Health Centre has therefore reformulated its vision and objectives for the next ten years.
The changes are related to increasing pressure on the healthcare sector due to the tightening labour market, increasing ageing population, increasing demand for care, the still growing regulatory environment, as well as an increasing number of healthcare providers and, finally, increasing pressure on financial resources. Further development is also foreseen in the areas of automation and healthcare networks. The influx of large numbers of new residents in Schalkwijk also demands a response. Until the year 2030, the municipality expects an increase of 10,000 residents in Haarlem East.
All these factors force Schalkwijk Health Centre, as an important centre for integrated primary care, to adapt and be adaptable. Important because all disciplines within the centre recognise the great importance of Health Centre Schalkwijk's existence.
In the coming years, the centre will also face substantially less resources, this will force it to make sharp choices and smarter ways of working.
We are a centre that is accessible to everyone. The centre has a good reputation because patients have confidence in it, the lines of communication are short, patients feel taken seriously and problems get to the right place quickly. Staff are also satisfied because cooperation is pleasant, they work effectively and they trust each other's expertise. In addition, they are committed to long-term cooperation.
Schalkwijk Health Centre is a foundation whose main objective is to give form and substance to integrated primary care in the Schalkwijk district. Because many residents of non-Western ethnicity live in Schalkwijk, more attention will also be paid to culture-sensitive care. Thoughts: primary care under one roof where continuity and effectiveness are paramount. There is knowledge of other disciplines and what they have to do so that the client quickly ends up in the right place. In addition, there is healthy financial management, mutual trust and satisfaction among employees.
The following three key objectives have been formulated for the next decade
Schalkwijk Health Centre considers the care programme to be spearheaded alongside the existing Powerful Basic Care programmes.
Powerful Primary Care takes an integrated and methodical look at patients' health issues that are broader than just GP care. With Powerful Primary Care, Schalkwijk Health Centre believes it is taking an important step in further shaping and improving integrated primary care. In the GPs' regional organisation, there is growing knowledge available that can support Schalkwijk Health Centre in developing new, substantiated care paths, care networks, ICT support and other administrative support. This support is also conditional, as Schalkwijk Health Centre will lack the financial resources and capacities for this in the coming years. This cooperation will therefore be explicitly sought. On the other hand, innovations and or proven successes of the centre can be shared with the region. For more info on regional organisation, follow the link below https://huisartsenzuidkennemerland.nl
Increasingly, digitalisation will start to influence work in the centre and district, this is seen as an opportunity to improve and accelerate knowledge and information development. There are also opportunities here to develop digital networks with actors outside the centre. Initiatives will be taken to this end in the coming years, making use of existing software applications.
Digital communication with and in the Schalkwijk district is increasingly taking over, pushing printed information channels into the background. This means the future of the paper Open Letter, which has also been published several times a year for more than four decades and will disappear. This disappearance can only happen when GCS is convinced that the alternatives are adequate.
The newly formed LZV-GSC steering committee, together with the district manager, is responsible for the care and organisational aspects. The steering committee consists of representatives of various disciplines, disciplines that participate in care programmes and policy consultations. This further formalises cooperation between the disciplines.
GCS will use the next two years to explore how and in what way facility services and subletting can be organised differently.
GCS aims to achieve a number of goals with this
The condition here is that these possible changes continue to guarantee the core objectives.
Talks will start with the owner of the Schalkwijk Health Centre building in this regard.
