Changing or cancelling appointments

Changing or cancelling appointments should be done at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancelled or missed appointments (regardless of the reason) will be charged to you personally and will not be reimbursed by the health insurer.

The first appointment

Take away:

  • Referral from GP, dentist or specialist
  • Insurance card
  • Valid ID

Check with your health insurance if you are eligible for reimbursement.

The practice

Mary de Boer, speech therapist and stutter therapist, has had her practice in Haarlem since 1991. It has since grown into a large practice with 4 locations in Haarlem centre/north. Health centre Schalkwijk, location at primary school ‘’De Meer’’ and a location in the Zuiderpolder.

The practice focuses on speech therapy for children and their parents, adolescents and adults.

In practice, specific attention is paid to:

  • Stuttering
  • Vote woes
  • Neurology (including aphasia, dysarthria, Parkinson's and swallowing disorders)
  • Young children with little or no speech
  • OMFT (including open-mouthed behaviour, slurring, thumbing)
  • Speech disorders (including articulation problems, speaking incoherently, banter)
  • Language disorders
  • Preverbal speech therapy (drinking and feeding problems in babies and small children).

Intake and examination

At the first appointment, bring:

  • The doctor's referral letter
  • Valid identity document.
  • The speech therapist will ask for your contact details (name, address and place of residence) and your health insurance policy

 

The speech therapist will discuss health problem. This will be followed by an examination and then the results will be discussed with you and a treatment plan will be drawn up.
