The pedicures at the health centre are Marit Grozema, Monique van der Weide and Nelleke Steenbakker. It gives them great satisfaction to help people get rid of painful foot complaints and other foot discomforts and to see the condition of their feet ‘gradually’ improve. Their speciality is foot care for people with diabetes mellitus. The risk of foot complications can be greatly reduced by proper preventive care by the pedicurist. Great importance is also attached to education on early recognition of foot (skin) problems and home care. Sometimes foot complaints can result from moderate care combined with poor (fitting) footwear. Furthermore, foot problems and foot (position) abnormalities can cause numerous physical complaints that are not limited to the feet.
Pedicures provide specialised foot care, including to diabetic patients. For diabetes and rheumatism patients, these treatments are sometimes (partly) reimbursed by the health insurer.
